  1. Airedale Terriers are amazing protective family dogs, and much much more. As War dogs they have saved entire squadrons by literally giving their lives delivering critical information between commands. They are prized both by families, farmers. Soldiers, Police and even Hunters. Hunters, some of whom are veterinarians, use them to “tree” cougars and bears. Photos have been taken of them with with their muzzles full of porcupine quills. They do not stop, or ever back down. Yet they love their families and babies. I miss the three I had over a 40 year period Rusty Woody and Rosey. R. I. P.

  2. I agree most should not have these dogs as pets. I’ve been blessed to have several and no problem with them. Pitbulls, boxers, pressa, husky wolf mix, pure blood timber wolf, dobermans, husky, chow chow, and now two malis. I have been able to take them anywhere. The timber wolf was a favorite at events and nursing homes, he was very gentle with everyone. Allowed everyone to pet and hug him, had his picture taken by many. Even the police would come to the house to see him and take pictures.
Don’t take me wrong, I was very watchful of all the dogs around people especially the wolf and the mix due to what they were. But never any charges in attitude, always gentle.
I don’t recommend any of these breeds to just anyone if they don’t have the time to spend with them. I’m retired and my Malis are with me 24/7.
