It’s my belief that your photo of the Airedale is one and the same as the dog in the Welsh photo shot from a different angle. Airedales are generally tend to be more of a redish-tan with longer snouts/muzzles.
No airedales are the tallest of the terrier group. The Welsh is definitely a Welsh. He’s just in a clippered coat and not handstripped. The Norfolk terrier isn’t a Norfolk.
You are looking at a Welsh as listed as well as a purebred Airedale. Airedales can be literally black and tan with a rich tan color or they can have a much lighter coat color which is a softer coat and is lighter in color. If they have the lighter coat, the fur is more wooly in texture. Don’t be fooled by the show Airedales who have been “chalked” or who have had their fur dyed to make it appear they have a beautiful black and red/tan coat. It’s fake. The Welsh has a lighter coat color and probably has a softer coat. It is a Welsh which, as a breed, is almost identical to the larger Airedale, but still a seperate breed. These 2 pictures are of different dogs as well as breeds.
Remember to mention the Rat Terriers! Such happy active loyal spirits! My personal favorite companion.
There’s also the Norwich, Rat Terrier & Smooth & Wire Fox Terriers. Also fabulous Terriers. We loved our terriers!
Thanks for your article.
The Rat Terrier should get more attention. He is a fantastic little friend and companion. Very smart too!

That is NOT a Cairn Terrier that you are showing! I don’t know what breed that thing is, but it is not a Cairn The Norwich Terrier image you have is the Cairn Terrier. They do look similar, but that little cutie is a Cairn. From other comments you’ve received, I don’t think you know terriers very well at all.
BORDER TERRIER. EVERY OK NE forgets the BORDER TERRIER…I OWN AN ALL BLUE BORDER TERRIER
BORDER TERRIER. EVERY One forgets the BORDER TERRIER…I OWN AN ALL BLUE BORDER TERRIER
Where’s the Westie? I know it’s considered a Cairn but it is every bit independent of the breed.
