According to an alleged mockup of the device’s interface that was shared with MacRumors, the iPhone 14 Pro may bring back the classic battery percentage indicator (yes, the one that displays the % and the power reserve icon side by side). This information comes from a rumored mockup of the device’s interface. This implies that owners of Apple’s Pro devices may not be forced to use the ugly indication that Apple is testing in the iOS 16 beta. This indicator displays the percentage of charge remaining in the battery icon and may often be difficult to see.
However, the most recent iteration of the indication that is used by Apple on its more recent products appears in the form of a battery icon (rather than a percentage) that provides a graphical depiction of the amount of power that is still available in your phone. This feature, which was initially introduced in the iPhone X owing to a shortage of space created by the notch, requires you to slide down to access the Control Center in order to see the specific percentage.
However, as the iPhone 14 Pro is believed to replace the notch with two distinct cutouts that will create a single, unified pill shape when the screen is switched on, this should allow for ample area to display both the battery icon and the percentage of charge remaining in the battery. The cell service icon could be moved to the left side of the screen when the phone is locked, and the notification center and battery indicator could be added to the right side of the screen instead. This would be another way for Apple to make use of the additional screen real estate provided by the iPhone 14 Pro.
The same anonymous source provided MacRumors with a rendering of what the speculated always-on display on the iPhone 14 would look like. Users will reportedly be able to fully customize the appearance of the screen when their device is locked. This will allow them to adjust the hue of the foreground of their wallpaper (while the rest of the screen continues to be darkened), which will result in only a portion of the original image being visible. According to the source cited by MacRumors, widgets will also be visible on the always-on display, but their visibility will gradually fade in and out to reduce the risk of OLED burn-in. When the always-on display setting is on, any alerts will show as a pop-up at the bottom of the screen before vanishing after around ten seconds.
There have been rumors that the iPhone 14 Pro and Pro Max will get the most of the enhancements that Apple might perhaps use to justify an increase in pricing of $100. Whatever it is that Apple has in store for us, we won’t have to hold our breath for too much longer until we find out. The date of Apple’s Far Out event, September 7th, is now only a few days away.
