The iPhone 14 Plus is a brand new addition to Apple’s range, taking the place of the iPhone 13 small but with a significantly bigger screen at 5.5 inches. We’re talking about the same size as the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which is 6.7 inches.
However, the larger screen isn’t the only selling point for the iPhone 14 Plus. The cost is too high. The new Plus is $100 cheaper than the iPhone 14 Pro and $200 less than the Pro Max.
To what extent do you receive what you pay for, and should you spring for the Pro version? Reasons to buy and not buy the iPhone 14 Plus are provided below. Don’t forget to check out how the iPhone 14 Plus stacks up against the regular iPhone 14 if you’re still looking for answers.
A bigger display, at last
Seeing the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus side by side has made my decision very clear. Even though I now need reading glasses, the larger screen of the iPhone 14 Plus is a major selling point for me. When compared to the iPhone 14, which has a screen size of only 6.1 inches, the bigger 6.7-inch display simply allows you to see more information without the need to scroll as frequently.
The iPhone 14 Plus is the superior option for viewing media and playing games due to its bigger screen. And don’t worry, this phone isn’t any heavier than average. When compared to the iPhone XS Max’s 8.47-ounce weight, this one weighs in only a feathery 7.16.
Much less expensive than Apple’s 14 Pro
In its base 128GB configuration, Apple’s iPhone 14 Pro costs $899. That’s $200 less than the iPhone 14 Pro Max and $100 more than the standard iPhone 14. Additionally, that’s a substantial sum of money these days.
When compared to the Samsung Galaxy S22 Plus, which also boasts a 6.6-inch screen, the iPhone 14 Pro is priced similarly. Priced at $999, this model is available for as little as $749 in Galaxy S22 sales.
Basically, if you don’t want to shell out the extra money for the iPhone 14 Pro, the iPhone 14 Plus seems like a fair deal.
Upgrades to the camera quality are solid.
Don’t let the iPhone 14 Plus’s almost identical 12MP primary sensor deceive you. When compared to the iPhone from last year, the sensor on this year’s model is far more capacious. The new lens has a faster f/1.9 aperture and employs pixels that are 1.9 microns in size, which improves light collecting by 49%.
Moreover, Apple says that the new Photonic Engine in the iPhone 14 series boosts the performance of all three cameras by a factor of 2.5 on the main camera and 2 on the ultrawide and TrueDepth camera in low light. Furthermore, for the first time, the front-facing camera has autofocus.
Finally, a brand-new Action Mode is available for filming video, promising silky-smooth results even when you’re on the go.
The iPhone with the longest battery life
Apple claims that the iPhone 14 Plus has the “longest battery life on iPhone,” with ratings of 26 hours of video playing, 20 hours of video streaming, and 100 hours of music playback, but we will have to put these claims to the test. As you can see, all of these times are longer than the normal iPhone 14’s 20/16/80 hours under the identical conditions.
Even Apple admits the iPhone 14 Plus has a longer battery life than the powerful iPhone 14 Pro Max under normal use. We will keep you updated as soon as the findings of our tests become available.
Refined security measures
This is a perk exclusive to the iPhone 14 Plus, although it is included on all four of the new iPhone 14 models. The iPhone 14 Plus’s antennae may now link to satellites to summon assistance in situations where no cellular service is available, thanks to a new capability dubbed Emergency SOS via Satellite.
The Crash Detection function is a potential life-saving addition, since it uses the device’s motion sensors (accelerometer and gyroscope) to identify impacts and immediately contact emergency personnel.
